Goyard Saint Louis GM Review

The Goyard Saint Louis is wildly popular, and many people consider the GM to be the perfect vacation/gym/everything bag.

Personally, I’ve yet to find a use for my Goyard St. Louis GM. In my opinion, the best features of this bag are the detachable pouch, which I use to hold foreign currency when traveling, and it’s ability to fold flat for easy storage when I’m not using it.

This is not my ideal travel bag because it doesn’t have a zip-top closure. During a trip though IAH, my husband accidentally lifted the bag by one strap and my belongings scattered to the four corners of the x-ray belt. My husband concluded that the Saint Louis was not a suitable travel companion, and I purchased the Goyard Artois MM, which is my ultimate travel bag. You may want to consider the Artois MM as an alternative to the Saint Louis if you need a large bag with a zip closure.

I also prefer not to take my Saint Louis to the pool or the beach, where the chlorine, sand, sun, and salt may cause the pattern to fade or deteriorate. My Artois PM is already experiencing light fading, and I don’t take her anywhere that has corrosive substances. For the pool or beach, I prefer my MZ Wallace bags. The MZ Wallace Medium Metro Tote Deluxe also makes a fantastic travel bag.

Finally, please note that you will probably want to purchase a base for your Goyard St. Louis GM if you decide to acquire one because it doesn’t come with a base. I’ve included my base in the pictures, which I purchased from Amazon.com, a Girls’ Guide to Glitz affiliate.
